Have you ever seen a swarm of ladybugs?
My brother-in-law lives in the desert in California.
One of the times we visited him & his family was back in 1992 when our kids were still pretty young. The desert is beautiful and we enjoy it tremendously, but one of the things that we did during that particular visit, was take a drive up the mountains to a beautiful little town, I think it was called Idyllwild.
Well, that was over 25 years ago, that we walked in those gorgeous mountains. And as memory serves me, it was cool, sunny and just a perfect day to be on the trails.
While hiking, a most miraculous thing happened: one of us bumped a branch…just casually…while we were walking….and a bright red cloud of lady bugs flew up and around us.
It got bigger and bigger because they, in turn, bumped the ladybugs in the neighboring branches.
I guess it could have been scary, but it wasn’t…it was beautiful seeing the sunlight through the trees lighting up their wings!
Ladybugs pose no harm to humans. And they really didn’t even land on us…they just swarmed….but in a beautiful red haze.
And as we watched, they all settled back on the branches. There seemed to be millions of them.
I remember having a wonderful time walking in the woods that day. And then we had a picnic lunch in town and drove back to the desert.
My brother-in-law and his wife take daily walk in some wonderful areas of southern California through desert and mountains trails… seeing some breathtaking scenes and wildlife.
They even send photos regularly of some pretty amazing things.
But, I cannot imagine that anything could surpass that gorgeous
flock of red with black dotted wings that day!
Here are a few simple ways that you & your kids can draw a ladybug.
or try this way:
I hope that you enjoy trying these easy simple steps to draw your own ladybug, and maybe you can continue to draw an entire scene with trees and wildlife.
Happy Drawing!
