We’re going to start with some simple shapes…
how to draw them and how to use them to make fun drawings.
We’ll learn the very basics and have fun adding our own twists!
We’re not going into any geometry, just using the shapes to start our drawings.
REMEMBER to use a whisper line, this is important because if you use a very light (whisper-line) it’ll be much easier to erase and clean up your drawing.
So here is a photo of some cylinders that I found in my studio: a jar, a cup, a marker, a glue stick, and small spray bottle, and a large tin can.
Here’s how you make a cylinder, start with an oval and follow these steps, you can add a shadow, or shading:
…and if you’re having a tough time getting a good oval try this:
make two dots and connect them like the drawing below with even curves, and then drop your lines and add the bottom curve.
Here’s some of my sketches that I drew from cylinders:
I can hear those gears in your head churning….I would LOVE to see some of your ideas and drawings! Please send a PHOTO and we can share it in the gallery. Send to: [email protected]
Happy Drawing!
