I love TRAINS!

I love trains!

My grandfather was a switchman working on the railroad, a long long time ago!  I understand that he worked in the train yards and hooked the cars together or moved the tracking switches to put the train on different tracks.

I’m sure that I am oversimplifying it…and do not really understand…

Anyway, my mom and her siblings would talk about how much my grandfather enjoyed his job.  I can imagine that it was very hard work, but I can see where it might be adventurous also.

I love my Grampa and I love trains!

I love the sounds, the rumbling motion, all of it!   And the stories!!!  Wow!

My mother was the oldest of four sisters and one brother, and  because their dad worked for the railroad, I guess they were able to travel the rails inexpensively…and the four girls must’ve done so frequently.

You know, I actually love to travel, to see new and exciting places…but, I do not like to travel in the squished seat of an airplane.

I think traveling on a huge steamer-ship or taking the train is so much more romantic, and exciting. It may take longer…but, there’s so much more to see…and it is so much more relaxed & comfortable.  

I’m not one who can sit in one spot for hours on end…even watching TV or a movie…so DEFINITELY not in a squished airplane seat, where you can barely even get up to go to the bathroom!!!

Well, you’ll find (if you hang out with me for any length of time) that I really like trains enough to talk about them, draw them and enjoy travel on them!

I even live close enough to hear one every night as I fall asleep.
