I never grew pumpkins before!!!!
Here’s some photos: in the beginning of summer when they started to get big, but were still green. Then they started turning yellowish and … then orange…
..and then ……………Wow! So much fun!!!!!
I have 4 that have been growing all summer…they are all approximately 12” high oval shaped.
Okay, okay – I won’t win any blue ribbons at the county fair – but, hey! I’ve never grown them before and I’m a smidge proud-a myself.
They’re beautiful, and two of them are already picked. I learned that the stem has to be brown and easy to remove in order for them to be ripe enough to pick.
Well, with that said. I thought that it might be fun to do some things with them: pumpkin seeds, pumpkin pie, a fun-faced jack-o-lantern. Or to just have them sit on the front steps with the beautiful yellow mums my kids brought for me not too long ago!
I love the fall: the smells and dry warmth, the colors…pretty much everything. When I was a kid, I used to even love the idea of going back to school. We didn’t have the luxury of new school clothes or supplies, but that’s another story for another day…and it was all good anyway.
I thought that I’d share with you a recipe for pumpkin seeds.
I am illustrating a cook book for Kids and their Grown-Ups. and this is a page from that book. I have two of the pages available as PDFs on my SHOP page, if you’d like to print one out . But, otherwise you’ll have to wit a bit to be able to get a copy of the whole book.
But, I’ll share each page so you can decide if you’d if you’d like one or two or the whole book or whatever.
Also, here’s a link to the Thanksgiving Treat recipe.
Enjoy!
