Remember when we talked about my mini-sketch-kit?
Here’s a link to that post if you missed it.
I was away this past week enjoying a quiet mountain getaway with my Honey.
But, I thought I’d show you HOW we could start with our watercolor pencils. Obviously the more we practice the better we get, and here’s a good start.
It’s just a simple sketch from the corner of my sketch book.
What’s nice about this is: no matter how you draw it, it’ll be cute. You don’t have to draw realistically…just have some fun with this.
On a corner of the paper I was working on in my sketch book:
I added some legs and a head with ears…Then drew the second piggie…
Then started to fill in lightly with some blue on the hill…
and continued to fill in more adding light and dark areas.
Then using the yellow, go lightly over the blue to make some green grass
Then continue adding llight and dark areas of the blues and yellows.
and keep going..isn’t it cool to see the colors happening before your eyes!?!
Just fill in where you think it looks good, and we’ll start to work on those piggies next…
and then you can add some YELLOW…
Now get your brush again and start to blend the piggie…
Using the blue pencil, add some shadows and eyes and any other detail you’d like…and blend them with your brush carefully.
Now do the same with the second piggie…starting with your RED pencil…
Adding some YELLOWS
And begin to blend with your brush.
I added some squiggly lines for clouds, and everywhere the blue sky would show through…I added some light BLUE pencil lines.
You can see my brush, and the three watercolor pencils that I used here.
This is what the corner of my sketchbook paper looked like when I was done, and below I added a border to give it a finished look (even though its just a little sketch).
Now, if you give something like this a try, please send a photo, I’d love to see how your’s turned out.
