I bought this small wooden plaque at Joann’s the other day, I thought it was cute! Â It is maybe 8″ x 8″ and not even a half inch thick.
It came with an attached twine hanger. So it was ready to go!
It must’ve been laser burned because it had a browned edge as you can see in this photo.
I suppose I easily could’ve left it the way it was and it would’ve looked fine, but I was in a painting kind of mood.
So, I started with a white primer and coated the entire plaque.
Then I began with a warm sunny yellow!
And then started to paint my bee! And make the and the edges of the honeycomb cells darker.
I added some fun details and then painted the whole thing over with an acrylic gloss varnish.
You can see that where it isn’t dry in this photo it is still a whitish color.(look in the corners)
I let it dry overnight, and then hung it on our shed door.
