While drawing this little chick, Alana sent this question:
“Do you erase at the end? Because if you do, how do you erase if you are using oil or chalk pastel?” -Alana
Alana,
That is a great question!
Unfortunately, the answer is ‘you cannot erase any kind of pastel easily’…but… If you start all over again with a pencil this time:
And use the pencil to draw your picture as guide-lines, in other words:
- Draw in pencil FIRST.
- Then when you’re happy with your drawing, erase the lines that you do not want.
- And then add your color afterwards!
If you do it this way, when you erase it’ll be clean enough to enjoy coloring with your pastels.
See Whisper Line for more information.
BTW: I love pastels, both chalky kinds and oil-based!
Please take a photo with your phone-camera and send me a snap of your finished artwork. I’d love to see it!
Send to: [email protected] and let me know if I can add it to the GALLERY page. Thanks, Alana!
Now, here’s a repeat of that Draw Page:
…and always remember to start with a Whisper line.
Happy Drawing!
