Why is ART so IMPORTANT? and What can THE DRAW PAGE do for me?

Great question!   We’ll get to all of that, but first let’s start with: 

WHAT IS DRAWING?

I’ve heard DRAWING described as making marks on a surface.

It doesn’t seem to be limited to pen on paper, 

or paint brush on canvas, 

nor is it limited to realism,

                                                               …or even limited to being ‘good-at-art’.

So, when you think about it, anyone can draw!   If you can write your name: you can draw!

Now, with that said…there are skills to learn that make you better at drawing.  

There are steps that you can take to create beautiful works of art. Talent may be important, but it isn’t quite as important as a willingness to learn and practice.

EVERYONE has a creative part inside…sometimes we know what it is and sometimes we don’t.

But, it’s there…it could be building things,

or singing,

or dancing,

or baking…and on & on.

But, if you want it to be drawing, then we, at The Draw Page can help you.   Or if you just want to have some fun drawing with your kids, this is the place to start.

DRAWING is a learned skill. 

And who knows? This may bloom into finding your ART, your kid’s ART……or both.

WHY IS LEARNING ART SO IMPORTANT?

Well, besides having fun with your kids, or your kids just having some fun, or simply wanting a time alone to have some fun… learning about Art is important for many reasons.  For openers:

• Learning in the ARTS enables a child (& even their Grown-Up) to develop the creative, collaborative & critical thinking skills necessary to succeed in today’s ever-changing world.
• We all need a place to express ourselves. 
• Art stimulates both sides of the brain, develops hand and eye coordination and well…kids, who make art, have a tendency to read better and get better grades in both science & mathematics. 
• They get a chance to learn by using their senses.   It teaches them to think openly, and realize that there is more than one solution for a problem……in other words to think creatively to solve problems.
• In schools when art is integrated with the other subjects in the curriculum, kids commit more to the learning process.
• It gives kids a chance to share and reflect on their work of art and learn something about the world they live in.

There really are a lot of good reasons to share art with your kids and to find a creative outlet for ourselves.

And a really good way to bring more art into your kid’s world is to just do it:

·         Sing, play music & dance with them

·         Read books with them

·         build legos or glue popsicle sticks together with them

·         and, my favorite: DRAW with them.

WHAT DOES THE DRAW PAGE HAVE TO OFFER YOU & YOUR CHILD?

At The Draw Page, we are currently working on and developing a series of videos, but right now we already have the DRAW PAGES themselves. (And I think you’ll agree, they’re very useful)

And what exactly is a DRAW PAGE?

Draw Pages are printable, mostly one-sheet, all-in-one art lessons.  If you choose, you do not have to print them out, you can just open them on your PC, tablet, or phone…and work from there.

In other words, you can learn to draw some THING and then you can move on  to another interest, or you could use this THING as a starter by adding more of a scene to it, and making it into a work of art!

But, we also have available printed books and eBooks, where you can just download it and print it out.

    • Or you can use DRAW PAGES with a classroom full of kids.
    • Or you can use DRAW PAGES to do on your own, on your kitchen table
