Yesterday we talked about setting up your Traveling-Mini-Sketch-Kit.
Make sure you read the whole article because there are lots of ways to get around buying expensive materials. (and if you have more suggestions tell us: [email protected])Â But, buying the best that you can at the moment helps!
The reason that I suggest carrying only the three primary colors is not only because it is easier to have less tools and materials to lug around. But i think it might be good exercise and practice….and also…I think that your art has more depth and realism, as you mix your own colors.
Look at these examples below and see for yourself.
See this tree: Its a simple tree made with a brown, green, dark green and yellow watercolor pencils. I just picked up what I thought a tree color would be and sketched it with that pencil.
I can use all of the colors in a full set of colored pencils, but I can still make the colors sing with just the primary colors too (and maybe even a little more).
Obviously, you can use whatever you’d like to, but in the next few weeks of Excursion Days…I will use the three primary colors. Try it along with me.
Remember to get your Mini-Sketch-Kit together.
See you next time,
-Rose
